Children in Greece

In Greece, every year, 800 to 1,000 children are born with congenital heart diseases, of which one-third, mainly newborns, need immediate heart surgery. 35% of children in Greece are uninsured, and their families cannot cover the huge medical cost. Kalangos Foundation, with Professor Afksendiyos Kalangos and his team, supports Greek children suffering from congenital heart diseases by responding to the offer of their work and providing economic support when needed.

"Love life, Feed life, Teach life, Protect life, Serve life" Afksendiyos Kalangos

We aim to provide access to medical and surgical care for all children suffering from congenital and acquired heart diseases who live in middle—and low-income countries. Since 1998, more than 17,000 children have been treated by the teams of the “Kalangos Foundation” either in their own countries or in several medical care units in Europe.
